It’s a good week to be a geek!
Here’s what’s happening:
“The Avengers: Age of Ultron” has finally arrived in Theaters. I’m in it for Iron Man and Black Widow, but the world clearly loves everyone on this team. Overseas opening-weekend box-office has already surpassed the original by 44%. Wow!
Saturday 5/2 is “Free Comic Book Day!”
Honestly, comic books did two things for me as a kid: kept me reading, and inspired me to draw. Sound like good habits for your boy or girl? Grab a free book or two. No strings attached, just select free comics at the Comic Book Shop, Hastings, and anywhere else you can find them. While supplies last. Here’s a look at this year’s free titles.
Monday 5/4 is the big Star Wars “May the 4th Be With You” party at Did’s Hawaiian Shack and Arcade (5406 N. Division). ZZU and I will be there from 5pm to 7pm, and I’m super excited about it. Join us for themed food specials, trivia, videogames, and a costume contest. A word of advice to Did’s: Let the Wookie win. Always let the Wookie win.
Round out the fun with the First Friday Art-walk, a brisk Bloomsday walk or run on Sunday, and celebrate surviving all this fun with a stiff Margarita on Cynco DeMayo!
